Mitch Alward is currently Engineer-Water Treatment and Catchment at Tweed Shire Council and works in the team that operates and maintains the water treatment and catchment assets including drinking water plants, dam and surface water weirs. Mitch’s professional experience includes environmental engineering, science and management and has worked alongside environmental pollution regulators to maintain industry employer functions and to achieve business efficiency. Mitch recognizes the challenges associated with solid waste management experienced across industry types in NSW including the water industry and hopes to consult with other water industry types to develop new frameworks for improved drinking water waste management.

Zac Macartney is studying a Bachelor of Engineering at the University Queensland. He is a Tweed local with a keen interest in chemical and mechanical engineering. Zac has been supporting Tweed Shire Council over the past several years on a casual basis performing technical work associated with the main drinking water treatment plant including its sludge management and chemical dosing systems. He is an analytical thinker and is demonstrating himself to be an engineering problem solver. His assistance to Tweed has been highly valuable.
